My research project on transnational organizations took me to Brazil, Mexico, Israel, Jordan, Palestine, Colombia, and back to Brazil during my sabbatical year -- makes me happy (euphoric actually) every day! New photos in the Brazil, Colombia and social movements galleries.

Nigeria

October 2009

My trip to Nigeria was incredible. It was amazing to observe the planning for a new co-production, and to meet the team that will make it all happen.

Jordan and Palestine
February 2009
My trip to Amman, Ramallah and Jericho was life changing -- what a pleasure to meet with the Palestinan and Jordanian teams for Shara'a Simsim and Hikayat Simsim. Here I am with Fadi from the Palestinian team, who is introducing me to wonderful Haneen! Israel with Rechov Sumsum
January 2009
My trip to Israel with Sesame Workshop was fantastic! Here I am at Qumran, the site where the dead sea scrolls were found and where we had a desert experience with Ernie and Bert. We stayed on a kibbutz with the Israeli team and made a quick stop at Masada. New photos in Israel gallery.

Sésamo Summer 2008
It was a fantastic summer with trips to Brazil, Mexico and Puerto Rico. I celebrated the 35th anniversary of Plaza Sésamo in Mexico City (here I am at the opening night party with head writer Germán Rosas, and Elmo -- too much fun!).

After the Finish
MARATHON MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Ran my first marathon in my favorite state -- California. It poured down rain until mile 19 -- insane! But I finished despite my injury, and Karri (who ran the half) and I had an absolute blast! The rain was so bad my sneakers and socks were water-logged and making squishy sounds by mile 2! Most of the mile markers and route directions blew away in the fierce wind, and emergency cones announced puddles too deep to traverse! But we had a great time nonetheless and agreed that we will make this an annual event -- next year in Hawaii perhaps!

Harold's Graduation 2007
The Big Day in Berkeley was super fabulous -- nonstop celebrating! Our families and beloved friends enjoyed every minute -- we dined at our favorite haunts, drank mojitos, and slept very little (and I developed smiling muscle fatigue). And now there are two Doctors in the family! We prolonged the fun for a few weeks -- I wore our now-shared UC regalia for Harvard's graduation.
